National Library of Scotland

The National Library of Scotland is one of Europe’s major research libraries. It holds world-class collections covering every subject, with particular specialisms in Scotland's literature, history, and culture. The Library holds one of the pre-eminent collections of Scottish artists’ papers, with archives relating to painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, architecture, photography, calligraphy, book illustration, and applied art and design from the eighteenth century to the present. These range from single letters and sketchbooks to extensive private archives of both professional and amateur artists.
