Description

Scene set in Zurich of a group of figures in Swiss costume; in the centre is a woman offering apples from a basket at her knee to a woman on the right who also holds a basket; a child reaches into the basket of apples and another woman seated in the middle scoops potatoes from another basket at her knee; two more figures stand behind them and another stands to the left, leaning on a barrel of produce and smoking a pipe; to the far right is a figure with a basket on his back containing bread and wine, walking away from the scene; in the background is the mouth of the Limmat River. Etching with hand-colouring.

Inscription

Graphite inscription on recto: "Bleuler" and "Zurich".
