Description

View of the RiverThames from the roof of Hungerford Market including the foreshore prior to the building of the Victoria Embankment. Figures sit at tables of a public house and look at the view which ranges across ramshackle wharves and the river. The York watergate can be seen at the left-hand-side. The paddle-steamer 'Naiad' plies the river.
