Description

ROX1236.
In his 'Flora Indica', Roxburgh describes this species as a small tree, which was brought to the Botanic garden of Calcutta in 1798, from the Moluccas, along with spice plants. According to Roxburgh, in the Botanic garden of Calcutta, this plant flowers and ripens its fruit at different periods through the year. The drawing has been inscribed in pencil, possibly in Roxburgh's hand, 'not monopetalous' beside an illustration of a flower, which has itself been struck through in pencil.
