The Grand Canal (First Lock), Dublin, Republic of Ireland
Attributed name: Francis Grose
This undated drawing shows the Boatsford Stone, which is located in Nithsdale. On the left side of the page can be seen large-sized, magnified drawings, which appear to depict the intricate features that appear on the stone. There does not appear to be much information regarding the Boatsford Stone. The bridge in the background of the drawing, however, suggests that it is located somewhere near the River Nith. The Hutton Collection contains another fine drawing of the stone by Captain Francis Grose dated around 1790, so it could be that this drawing is part of a pair.
