Description

From an album of drawings and watercolours by Hamilton Williams, HMS Leander, entitled 'Sketches in the South Pacific'. According to Manuel Fernandez, author of 'Arica 1868: un Tsunami y un Terremoto' (Santiago, Chile, National Library, 2007), this drawing of the depiction of Arica can be dated to 1867 or slightly earlier, as it shows features that were destroyed by the tsunami of 13th August, 1868.
