Description

Shows Commercial Bay with Wynyard Wharf in the foreground, North Head and Rangitoto in the distance, viewed from Courthouse Hill (now Constitution Hill). A tent-style building sits on the slope of the hill in the foreground to the left (probably Queen St.), with three figures standing in front of it. A number of vessels, including a sailing ship, sailing boats and rowboats or waka, can be seen in the bay. In the foreground on the right can be seen a Norfolk pine amongst other trees and bush, and the smoking brick chimney and part of the roof of a house.
