Description

Mounted watercolour of a pastoral scene with a house visible and smoke rising from the chimney. In the bottom left of the painting is //R.T. Aug 1869// and on the backing card immediately underneath is //Bagni di Lucca. Alla Villa// The town of Bagni di Lucca is a Tuscan spa town which reached its heyday in the early 19th century as one of Europe's most fashionable spas frequented by emperors, kings and arisitocrats and contains one of Europe's first licenced gambling houses.
