Description

The figures depicted are Robert Elwes (Mary's husband, seated with fishing rod) and Ole (in red hat, Robert Elwes' local guide). Mary painting the scene while her husband Robert Elwes is waiting to join Ole to take him in the rowing boat for a days fishing.
Bolstad is now known as Bolstadøyri.
This is one of a group of loose watercolours and drawings by Mary F. Elwes, wife of English traveller and painter Robert Elwes (1829-1886).
