Coloured Aquatint. This view shows the viewing platform to the left and the Toll House at the entrance to the pier. On the beach two bathing machines and in the near foreground two men pushing a rowing boat out to sea. On the right isa steam boat with black smoke coming from its chimney and a sailing boat with three white sails and a smaller one in between the two. The Chain Pier in the distance and the houses on the corner of the east side of New Steine and the Marine Parade are quite detailed.
