Description

Watercolour illustration commissioned by William Roxburgh. ROX1423. In his 'Flora Indica', Roxburgh describes this plant as a scandent and armed species. Roxburgh also writes: 'Introduced into the Botanic garden at Calcutta from Sumatra where it is held in as much dread as the 'Kantuffu' is in Abyssinia.' Roxburgh, 'Flora Indica' (1832) v.2, p.366.
