Description
A watercolour and bodycolour drawing of a female figure dressed as a milkmaid. In the background, a man in red and trees. Inscribed on the verso in pencil, 'The celebrated Kitty Fisher'. Kitty Fisher was a renowned actress and courtesan at the height of her fame in 1758-60. A popular song, 'Kitty Fisher's Merry-thought' was the subject of one of Paul Sandby's etchings of the cries of London, published in 1760 (see RCIN 814303.g). The present drawing is probably of a similar date.
Descriptive Medium: 'Watercolour and bodycolour', 'pencil, watercolour, bodycolour'
