Description
A watercolour of a view from the Singel (canalside road) at Culemborg, south-east of Utrecht, looking towards the Binnenpoort, the crenellated gate tower built in 1557, at the northern end of the main canal. Beyond, to the right, is the onion-dome tower of St Barbarakerk. On the opposite bank is the sixteenth-century Stadhuis. Inscribed on the contemporary mount: Cingel-gezigt te Culemborg. Signed and dated on the mount, bottom left: Paul: v: Liender ad: viv: del: 1752.
