Description

Watercolour drawing of Freshwater Bay, Isle of Wight by Samuel Howitt. Isle of Wight Tour 1791. 'With pen and ink italic inscription 'Fresh-Water Gate' lower centre on the mount. Pencil, pen and black and grey ink and watercolour on a grey wash-line mount. The building on the beach is thought to be Cabin Inn, a public house often frequented by the artist and friend of Rowlandson, George Morland.'
