Description

A paşa kâhya; single-page painting mounted on album folio. A steward or majordomo of a paşa's household wearing the red janissary felt headdress with a gold brim, green sleeveless kaftan, pale blue tunic, red trousers and high yellow boots. Inscribed. Album contains 124 paintings of Turkish sultans and court officials. Ink, opaque watercolour and gold on paper. Album bound in green leather with pages of Persian paper, according to inscription. Page edges gilded with gold.
