Unknown Artist (Ottoman School)
A sarhoş; single-page painting mounted on album folio. A drunkard. Bare-headed youth with a tuft of hair holding a dagger in one hand and a wine-flask in the other. Wearing open-necked mauve tunic, red trousers, yellow ankle boots, red cap and white sash with the scabbard of his dagger tucked into it. Inscribed. Album contains 124 paintings of Turkish sultans and court officials. Ink, opaque watercolour and gold on paper. Album bound in green leather with pages of Persian paper, according to inscription. Page edges gilded with gold.
