HMS Akbar Sept 7th 1815

This watercolour is part of a set of six depicting the 'Akbar' in different weather conditions and on different dates throughout August and September of 1815. The 'Akbar' is depicted from her starboard side in calm waters under full sail on 7 September. The print is signed by the artist on the mount on the lower right. George Back joined the 'Akbar' as midshipman in 1814, after having been a prisoner of war from 1809. Medium includes graphite.
