Rev. Robert Ross-Lewin
Robert O’Donelan Ross-Lewin was the Royal Navy chaplain aboard HMS 'London' in 1876-77. 'London' was an important instrument in the Royal Navy’s anti-slavery campaign along the East Coast of Africa. The ship sailed to Zanzibar to take up her position as a stationary depot vessel to counter the slave trade and maintain a presence against European rivals in the region.
