Above, early 18th-century Imari ware teapot, with peony and pheasant design in red on a white ground. Design for plate 2 from the series of 26 etchings published in Albert Jacquemart and Edmond Le Blant, Histoire artistique, industrielle et commerciale de la porcelaine, Paris: Techener, 1862. Medium: Watercolour, metallic paint and graphite on vellum.
