Description

Bernardo O'Higgins, a Chilean of part Irish descent was a General in the Chilean War of Independence and is considered one of the founding fathers of the country of Chile. After being exiled from Chile in 1823 he went to Peru and joined the efforts of Simon Bolivar. This painting depicts a group Chilean volunteers being inspected during the Peruvian war of independence (1811-1826).
