Description

View of the Rhinefalls from up a hill across the river; to the left and right of the waterfall is settlement; on the near side of the river and to the right is a tall building in the water, connected to the land by a stone wall and a bridge; in between these is a group of rowing boats with barrels in them, and a group of figures on the shore tending to more barrels on the bank; in the left hand foreground is a road on which is a horse-drawn cart lead by a peasant; two figures stand in the centre at the river's edge. Etching and aquatint with hand-colouring.
