Description

Lighting a fire beside the canoe with a hut in the bows made of thatched palm leaves. At Propria en route for the Falls of Affonso [Brazil]. Front cover design of 'A Sketcher's Tour Round the World' by Robert Elwes. This is an illustration from Robert Elwes' travelogue 'A Sketcher's Tour Round the World', published 1854. Elwes produced drawings and watercolours recording his travels in 1848-1850 and these form the models for the printed illustrations.
