Description

Brazillian men carrying a white woman in a hammock on a pole, with striped cover draped over, a woman behind at left carried a basket of pineapple on her head and a child on her back, a man at right carries a large bale on his head, his hat placed on top; after Lieutenant Chamberlain, illustration from 'Views and Costumes of the City and Neighbourhood of Rio de Janeiro' (Published 1822). 1821. Hand-coloured aquatint and etching.
