Description
A watercolour showing Roselle Point on the Island of Alderney, Guernsey. A rocky outcrop is shown stretching from the right, with the sea shown in the foreground. Inscribed below pasted down sheet: Rosel [sic] Point. Alderney. Inscribed lower right: VR del Aug: 8. 1854. on board the V. & Albert. On 8 August 1854, Queen Victoria and her family sailed to Alderney Island from Osborne on the Royal Yacht, Victoria & Albert. They anchored overnight in Bray Bay. In her journal entry of 8 August 1854, Queen Victoria describes the Island as "very rocky & barren, but very picturesque".
