Description

Watercolour on paper. Watercolour illustration commissioned by William Roxburgh. ROX106. Roxburgh commented in his 'Flora Indica', The red mealy powder, which covers the capsules is used by the natives to dye scarlet, and in Bengal the root is said to dye red also'. Roxburgh, 'Flora Indica' (1832) v.3 p.827.
