Description

The Capture of Africa (Aphrodisium Mahadiah) by the Spaniards under Andrea Doria, 1550; the city, on a promontory extending into the sea at right, troops and artillery pouring through a breach in the walls at left, galleys covering the other sides from the sea; formerly in the 1637 album containing 279 miscellaneous drawings. Pen and brown ink, with brown wash and watercolour.
