Description

The entrance to the Aldgate Watch House, adjoining the church of St. Katherine Cree, on the north side of Leadenhall Street; a man sits on a box outside entrance conversing with another man leaning against the wall of the church; above the entrance the sign "Aldgate Ward Watch House", and below the small pediment the sign "This gate was builte at the cost and charges of William Avenon citezen and gouldsmith of London who died in December Anno Dni 1631". 1855.
