Description

Red maize-like flower, possibly a banana plant, from an album of 91 drawings entitled 'Merian's Drawings of Surinam Insects &c'; depicting the life cycles of two moths and a wasp-like insect. Watercolour and bodycolour, heightened with white, and with pen and grey ink, on vellum.
