This is a page from a sketchbook bearing the following inscription: “Sketches by the Right Honble John Frederick Cheetham PC, sometime Member of Parliament for the Hythe Division of Cheshire. Member of the Alpine Club from 1867 to 1916. Illustrating the article in the Alpine Journal Volume III p119-153 of 1867. ‘The Tibetan Route from Simla to Srinagar. Notes of a Himalayan Ramble in the Summer and Autumn of 1859’. Presented to the Alpine Club by his widow Mrs Beatrice Emma Astley Cheetham, 1923.” The sketchbook also contains two drawings of Castle Howard dated 1885.
