Inscribed, verso: "The Valley of Chamonix from the pavillion of Belle Ville".
This is a page from a sketchbook of Swiss and French Alpine scenes, dated summer 1855. The inside cover bears the inscription: "Presented to the Alpine Club by GR de Beer Nov 1955". The artist is unknown.
