Description

A watercolour showing a view of a loch, possibly the Dubh Loch. A hill is shown in the foreground, sloping down from the left. The loch is shown behind, with steep hills rising up from its banks. Inscribed lower left: Oct: 4. 1872.
While staying at Balmoral Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots. On 4 October 1872, after spending the night at the Glas-allt-Shiel, the Queen visited the nearby Dubh Loch with her daughter Princess Beatrice.
