Caption: "View of Newport bridge over the Uske & the adjoining ruins of Newport Castle, with part of the town of Newport extending up the hill to St Woolers Church Newport in Welsh is called Castelh Newydd. It castle is generally supposed to have been built by Rob[e]r[t] Earl of Glocester in the reign of Henry 2[n]d - The export trade of Newport is now brisk. Monmouthshire"
