Description
A large, two-storey house overlooking what is probably Karaka Bay in Auckland. An expansive, flat lawn with a path leading to the house can be seen, and the house is surrounded by bush, mature pine, cabbage trees and flax bushes
Possibly after Charles James Urquhart, 1834-1909, who lived in Taranaki and drew his house there in the 1860s (A-159-009, [My wharrie, Taranaki. ca 1860]. Urquhart was in the 65th Regiment, as was Major Murray, whose house is noted by this artist in A-457-008-2
'Ghur' or ghar is the Hindi word for a house.
