Description
A ruined medieval abbey, with a low, wide arched doorway below a very large pointed window with quatrefoil tracery and niches running around the triangular frame above it, and two men and a woman with three dogs talking to a man digging in the foreground; state with date, before Sarjent included as publisher. 1798. Hand-coloured etching and aquatint.
Inscription
Lettered with the title and a dedication to "George Anderson, Major of his Majesty's 34th Regiment" from Jukes and J. Stewart [spelt 'Stuart'] and "Drawn by C. Catton / Engraved by F. Jukes / London Pubd. March 30. 1798, by F. Jukes Howland Street."
