About 6 years ago when altering the interior of the church, this figure was discovered underneath the pulpit, covering a stone cist, in it were bones and a skull (the teeth perfect) the vestments had gone to dust & nothing was found but a substance similar to wood ashes and to the disgrace of those who ought to know better, & had it in their power to prevent it, the effigy was cast out into the churchyard, the water from the roof pouring upon it & subjected to spoilation by the boys & idlers who frequent t
