Description

A ghostly figure, presumably a clergyman, stands in the doorway of a church shrouded in a dark cloak. He watches the departure of a woman, and her young child who is captivated by a butterfly. The child's playfulness contrasts with the man's harrowing appearance and, with the butterfly, may be intended to draw attention to both life's fragility and impermanence.
