Effigy of Richard I (Coeur-de-Lion), seen at the Abbey of Fontevraud, study for plate 8 of Stothard's 'The Monumental Effigies of Great Britain', published by Mrs Anna Eliza Bray, 1817-32, one of a large group of studies for this volume; whole-length recumbent figure, to front, with mutilated right hand, also separate studies of patterns on his attire. 1816. Pen and grey ink, with grey wash, graphite and watercolour.
