Description

Plate 8, "Monograph of the Coccidae of the British Isles", by Robert Newstead (Ray Society, 1900-1902). Figures 1-7 Aspidiotus hederae, views of the insects on lemon rind and the leaf of Nerium oleander and at various stages of development. Figures 8-12 Aspidiotus britannicus, view of the insects on a holly leaf and at various stages of development. Natural size and magnified to x25 and x35. Signed "R.Newstead ad nat del.", heavily cropped at base of plate. Five of the figures have been cut into the main page as windows or insets. The facing page is a corrected [in pencil] proof version of captions, "Explanation of Plate VIII".
