Description
View from the south end of Paihia Beach, probably in the 1840s, looking north along the beach with a row of houses at the foot of the hill to the left. Several Maori with their canoes are on shore, and a food storage platform appears outside the fenced area surrounding the European houses. Includes William Williams' house, a two-storied residence, built of stone and mortar, with 3 dormer windows, burnt down 15 Feb. 1856
