Watercolour illustration commissioned by William Roxburgh. ROX659.
In his 'Flora Indica', Roxburgh notes how the leaves, which are somewhat peltate, have large lobes which overlap each other in Bengal; whilst on the coast they are less luxuriant, often divaricate, with the apex rounded and the border sometimes waved. Roxburgh reports also that the roots and seeds of this species are eaten by the natives.
