Description

Watercolour painting on paper of a Grenadier Sepoy of the 25th Native Regiment. The soldier stands to attention on a small patch of grass – the only landscape shown in the painting. He wears black shoes and white shorts with a red and yellow jacket. Across his chest are two black sashes creating an ‘x’ pattern. The jacket is embellished with yellow cuffs and neck and has white decorations on the shoulders. He wears a blue hat at an angle on his head and holds a bayonet in his right hand.
