View of a convent with the roof and spire of the chapel rising in the centre and a low wall with an arched gateway enclosing the yard; a woman descending from a chaise on the lawn in front, to left, while a man bows to a monk who greets them; in an oval; after Ansell. 1795. Colour etching and aquatint with additional hand-colouring.

Lettered below the image with the title, continuing 'founded by Abelard, in the Year 1130, and of which Eloisa was first Abbess, situate [sic] near Nogent upon the Seine, in the Province of Champaigne. / From a View taken on the Spot by Charles Ansell. / London, Dec.r 1st. 1795.
