Inscribed below pasted down sheet, lower right: VR del July 9 1852 from a sketch [RCIN 980028.v] on board the V.& Albert Aug: 1849 Queen Victoria visited Ireland for the first time in August 1849. The Queen arrived at the Cove of Cork on 2 August 1849 after sailing from Osborne with Prince Albert and their four eldest children the day before. The Royal family sailed past the Wicklow Mountains on the way to Kingstown (modern day Dunleary) Harbour on 5 August 1849.
