Description

Captain Edward H. Columbine completed this watercolour, drawing of the Earl’s Palace, Kirkwall, Orkney, in 1792, and then Hutton, the collector, ordered this copy in 1802. The derelict ruins, also a good indication of the building’s present deterioration, are an arresting skyline feature.
