Description

Watercolour illustration commissioned by William Roxburgh. ROX998. According to Roxburgh's 'Flora Indica', this plant is '[a] native of the valleys amongst the mountains of the Circars. It appears during the rains, with the other species of this genus'. Roxburgh later added that he had not seen the female plant; the description and drawing were both made from a male plant reared in his garden at Samulkota. Roxburgh, 'Flora Indica' (1832) v.3, p.805.
