Description

A large animal, drawing formerly in a sketchbook of 77 sketches bound originally in sheepskin; animal, like a cross between a donkey and camel, head in profile, in a landscape. c.1824. Pen and brown ink, over graphite, touched with watercolour. Verso: Pastoral idyll, landscape with cottage on the right, outside which a figure sits in the garden, and another person looks out of a window to a figure standing and holding a staff outside, a large moon behind, another cottage at left, a hill and church. Pen and brown ink.
