Watercolour painting mounted on page 80. A view of a road winding through heathland, and distant hills. The note from Thomas Hardy relates to locations in "The Return of the Native". It is possible that Hardy accompanied Moule on these painting expeditions. Inscriptions: [on image bottom left] "Aug.29.93" / [on mount bottom left] "On Tincleton Heath" / [on mount bottom right] "Between "the Duck & "Coomb" (in Thomas Hardy's hand) / [on mount] "Sketch".
