Three drawing books by G. Brookshaw, bound without title-page in 19, th-century red leather-binding with tool-gilded ornament frames on cover. - First book : Second edition of "Groups of Flowers, drawn and accurately coloured after nature, with full directions for the young artist; designed as a companion to the Treatise on Flower Painting : Second edition of "Groups of Fruit, accurately drawn and coloured after nature, with full directions for the young artist: Intended as a companion to The Treatise on Flower Painting : Second edition of "Six Birds, accurately drawn and coloured after nature, with full directions for the young artist: Designed as a companion to The Treatise on Flowers and Birds (.)"; containing 12 prints of seven species of birds sitting on branches or flower sprigs (Goldfinch,Red Start; Tom-Tit and Red Pole; Pie Finch; Bramble Finch; Bullfinch); arranged in pairs, a handcoloured lettered sample followed by an uncoloured, not lettered one; plates preceding instructions on colouring the birds; none of the uncoloured plates coloured by former owner of the book. 1819. Stipple, in parts hand-coloured.
