Description
Cardinal Bourchier, Archbishop of Canterbury, and Rotherham, Archbishop of York, endeavouring to persuade the Queen, Elizabeth Grey, to suffer her son the Duke of York to leave the Sanctuary of Westminster; cardinal and archbishop to the right, the queen to the left kneeling in front of a statue of the Virgin and clasping her boy in her arms, with a woman weeping behind her, and a tomb with an effigy in armour in the background. 1799. Watercolour, strengthened with gum, with pen and ink.
