Description

This drawing is dated 1789, but is not attributed to any artist, and may be one of George Henry Hutton's own drawings. This is the only image relating to Tullibardine in the Hutton Collection, and shows the medieval church among trees in the middle ground, while the tower house of Tullibardine Castle is to the right of the church in the distance. Tullibardine Collegiate Church lies just outside the village of Tullibardine, approximately six miles south-east of Crieff. It was founded in 1446 by Sir David Murray of Tullibardine, an ancestor of the Dukes of Atholl. In the year of its foundation the church also became the last resting place of Sir David, who died shortly after building had begun. The ruins of the Castle were demolished around 1833.
